This one's for you, Peter

Hello, Dennis.

That's the first month of gym closure under the belt.

There are some that say we'll be in lock down until September (boooo!). Personally, I think we're a chance to open sooner under significant restrictions and guidlines like; more regular, more thorough and well documented cleaning regimes; reduced class sizes; spaced equipment; clearly documented attendance (and a willingness to share this information with authorities); temperature testing and relevant staff training.

Oh, and a committment to dowloading ScoMo's new app would probably go a long way.

WAHOO! JOB ADS FOR GENERAL MANAGERS & TRAINERS

Thre's also an opportunity for Trainers with Authentic Personal Training in Crows Nest, NSW. And Jetts have opportunities in WA for people that are looking to get qualified ahead of gyms reopening.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR DIFFERENTIATION

When things do return to normal, your ability to distinguish yourself from other fitness professionals will be an important part of getting your career underway again. Fortunately for everyone, FITREC has been built, to reflect the differences in every fitness professional.

AUSSIE GYMS ARE BREAKING NEW GROUND IN LOCKDOWN

Matthew Ellmas of SmartCompany has provided a great article on the impact and adjustments going on in parts of the fitness industry. It's great to see a couple of the HealthyPeople clients in the mix.

HOW CAN CLIENTS BOOST THEIR IMMUNE SYSTEM?

Professor Peter Doherty of the University of Melbourne reminds us that a healthy diet and staying in good shape are the best way to build a healthy immune system (and that being overweight was a big risk factor for the 2009 influenza pandemic!).

BICYCLES ARE THE NEW TOILET PAPER

While pretty much everyone in the fitness industry (and entertainment, travel, hospitality and retail industries) is suffering from significant income loss, it's good to hear there are winners. Especially in a space that promotes activity - bike shops. According to one bike shop employee, "[People] have the time on their hands, gyms are shut, pools are shut, so why not get a bike?”

BOOK QUOTES I'VE HIGHLIGHTED:

"To launch and maintain a successful business, you need to always make your clients feel better than your competitor does. Always." (Mike Michalowicz, The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur)

"It follows that if you want a great job, you need something of great value to offer in return." (Cal Newport, So Good They Can't Ignore You)

"Again, your subconscious conditioning determines your thinking. Your thinking determines your decisions, and your decisions determine your actions, which eventually determine your outcomes." (T. Harv Eker, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind)

Have a great week.

Regards,
