It's another big day in Bordeaux today with the release of two more 2018 First Growths.

The 100-pt. Mouton Rothschild absolutely blew us away from barrel and is one of our top wines of the vintage.

The 98-99pt. Haut Brion was outstanding from barrel as well and leading the pack in Pessac,

along with the Haut Brion Blanc that's "up with the creme de la creme of the vintage."

Moving to the Right Bank, we also have the "viscerally thrilling" 98-100pt Pavie out today.

Finally, we are also pleased to reload a small amount of the "exceptional" and potentially perfect Chateau Palmeras well offer Mouton's white wine Aile d'Argent as well as the second wine of Haut Brion, Le Clarence.

Our 2018 Bordeaux Report is available for reading on our Futures Landing Page which is being updated with new wines daily, and we'll be sending offers on the most compelling wines as they are released...stay tuned!

2018 Chateau Mouton Rothschild (Pauillac)

GVWM Wine of the Vintage

I am a little bit speechless about this one. I have not seen such earthy and totally deep character of the soil in a young Mouton in my career. Of course, I didn’t taste 1945 or 1959 when they were young, but I have been lucky enough to have a few bottles in my life. There is really terroir-driven character to this. Layered and so intense with polished and incredible tannins. - James Suckling

2018 Chateau Haut Brion (Pessac Leognan)

The length and texture to this wine is so very impressive. It's not so much the sheer power that is impressive here, rather the form, tension and exquisite form that the abundant, fine-grained tannins provide. It lasts for minutes on the palate. A classic beauty in the making. - James Suckling

Silky, polished, and ethereally textured on the palate, with beautiful tannins as well as mid-palate density, it's one of the most regal, classic wines in the vintage.- Jeb Dunnuck

2018 Chateau Haut Brion Blanc (Pessac Leognan)

More Sauvignon-dominated (there's 19.4% Semillon), the 2018 Haut-Brion Blanc is up with the creme de la creme of the vintage and has both richness and freshness. Tart pineapple, citrus blossom, hints of orange blossom, and crushed rock-like characteristics all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant white that has plenty of oomph on the mid-palate, bright acidity, and a great, great finish. It's another thrilling wine from this estate as well as one of the top whites in the vintage. - Jeb Dunnuck

It comes sashaying out of the glass...Big and beautiful. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

2018 Chateau Pavie (Saint Emilion)

The 2018 Pavie is composed of 60% Merlot, 22% Cabernet Franc and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested October 1-10 with yields of 38 hectoliters per hectare. The wine has a 3.58 pH and 14.48% alcohol. Very deep purple-black in color, the nose starts off quiet and stern, swiftly growing exponentially in the glass to reveal powerful plum preserves, fruitcake, coffee beans, smoked meats and black olives scents with emerging nuances of roses, hoisin, molten chocolate and licorice plus a waft of candied violets. WOW-the palate explodes with waves of black fruit preserves, exotic spices and savory chocolate, framed by very firm, super ripe, velvety tannins and an electric backbone of freshness, finishing with epic length and energy. Amazing, singular wine-it could only be Pavie. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

Possibly the wine of the vintage...viscerally thrilling wine that's got perfection written all over it. Bravo! - Jeb Dunnuck

2018 Chateau Palmer (Margaux)

The level of glycerine sets this apart, giving the cascade of plum, currant, blackberry and black cherry fruit extra oomph, while seeming to heighten the purity at the same time. Beautiful violet, incense and juniper notes flash in the background. This is packed with iron-laced grip, but remains seamless and extremely long. I suspect this will be one of the most talked-about wines of the vintage. - James Molesworth, Wine Spectator

An exceptional wine that will clearly be discussed and enjoyed for years to come. - Jane Anson, Decanter
