You May Be Losing Weight But Your Diet Isn't Working

Weight loss insight from Registered Dietitian Kate Chury on our team:

Dear Chronic Dieters,

I hear you. You tell me that dieting always works for you. You always lose weight when you cut out this or that food, or when you follow a certain type of plan. You are always able to lose the weight when you put your mind to it. You measure your success by the weight lost.

These weight loss diets aren’t a success, despite the weight loss. You may have lost weight but these diets have not worked.

You’ve had success with weight loss diets but you think about food all the time (like ALL the time). You’ve had success with diets but it’s made eating the foods you enjoy cause feelings of guilt and shame. You’ve had success with these diets but you are miserable. You eat different foods than your family. You can’t attend a social event without worrying about the food. You have a lot of regret after eating a certain type or amount of food. You binge in private.

Life as an Eating Disorder Dietitian

Working on Self Awareness

By Registered Nutritionist and Eating Disorder Dietitian Richelle Tabelon on our nutrition counseling team

“Feed the Now” is a quote and mantra from a client who I saw for eating disorder recovery.

“Feed the Now” beautifully encapsulates not only the struggle with food but also the emotional challenges that many people face.

How do I live in the moment and meet my physical and emotional needs without dwelling on the past or worrying about the future?

Simple Mango Shrimp Skewers Recipe

This simple mango shrimp skewers recipe by my friend Colleen Cannon can be made ANY time of the year since you can take advantage of frozen mango and shrimp. Serve this as an appetizer or alternatively for supper with a tossed salad and whole grain garlic toast (or grilled veggies and rice).
