Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine is a renowned Rhone producer who's best known for his otherworldly Hermitage La Chapelle which is revered by connoisseurs the world over. Established in the tiny village of Tain l'Hermitage back in 1834, over the years the Domaine has grown to encompass ~250 acres including vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Cote-Rotie and Condrieu. In 2005, the Domaine was acquired by the Frey family (who also own Billecart-Salmon, amongst other properties) and they set about to convert the vineyards to being fully sustainable and biodynamic. While La Chapelle is the most iconic wine produced, the estate is far from a one-trick winery and also produces a full suite of scrumptious Rhone bottlings, including La Maison Bleue, which was previously labelled as La Petit Chapelle prior to 2015. It represents approximately one third of the Domaine's Hermitage crop with another third used for La Chapelle and the remaining portion not used and eliminated. This cuvee is a softer and more approachable Hermitage that is sourced mainly from the 40-60+ year old vines found in the Rocoules section of Hermitage Hill and is testament that not all Hermitage needs to be cellared for decades before it can be savored.

GVWM is excited to be able to offer this scrumptiously beautiful Hermitage from one of the region's foremost producers at the lowest price available online!

94-96 WA: "Full-bodied, creamy and supple, the 2017 Hermitage La Maison Bleue looks to be a thrilling Hermitage to drink over the next 10-15 years. It's loaded with mixed blueberries and raspberries, adds subtle notes of mocha and baking spices and picks up a savory hint of black olives on the long, silky finish. Don't make the mistake of thinking only the La Chapelle is worth drinking, this should be a real beauty when it's released next year." - Joe Czcerwinski, Wine Advocate

91-94 JD: "There are roughly 2,000 cases of the 2017 Hermitage La Maison Bleue which, despite coming from more limestone soils on the eastern side of the appellation, has beautiful minerality in its black raspberries, blackberries, roasted herbs, licorice, Asian spices, and iron/bloody aromas and flavors. This forward, fleshy and undeniably sexy Hermitage has plenty of density, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It's more approachable than the La Chapelle yet is still going to have 2-3 decades of longevity." - Jeb Dunnuck
