Interesting Image

It has been raining 2nd Growths this week! Next to show their hand is Chateau Montrose checking in at 98-99 points. The famous St Estephe 2nd Growth produced one of the wines of the vintage and was on many "wish lists" this year. Not surprising given the praise it received from the critics. The 2018 is sure to take its place amongst the best vintages produced at the estate and it will provide immense drinking pleasure for decades ahead.

We are also delighted to offer you one of the wines that everyone has been waiting for, a 98-100 pt. 2018 La Mission Haut Brion. The good news is that it has been released at a very reasonable price and it stacks up very well when compared to other recent vintages. We feel this is an absolute "no brainer"!

Also out today is a "knockout" 97-98 pt. La Mission Haut Brion Blanc (along with the rest of the Clarence Dillon stable, save Haut Brion rouge and blanc), and a "blockbuster" 96-98 pt. Peby Faugeres.

Our 2018 Bordeaux Report is available for reading on our Futures Landing Page which is being updated with new wines daily, and we'll be sending offers on the most compelling wines as they are released...stay tuned!

2018 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion (Pessac Leognan)

The 2018 La Mission Haut-Brion is composed of 53.5% Merlot, 42.9% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3.6% Cabernet Franc, harvested September 10 to October 2. Deep purple-black in color, it slowly unfurls to reveal a beguiling nose of earth and soft-spoken fruit, opening with wild blueberries, wet slate, pencil lead and fresh black cherries giving way to a serious core of blackcurrant cordial, baked plums and wild sage, and then exposing delicate wafts of rose hip tea and candied violets. Full-bodied, the palate is very tightly wound and super intense with amazing restraint and energy focused around very firm, exquisitely fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing incredibly long and fantastically multilayered. Extraordinary wine. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate

It's one sexy yet also seamless 2018 that does everything right. - Jeb Dunnuck

2018 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion Blanc (Pessac Leognan)

This is a dense and lively La Mission white with lemon, lime and cream character and a light mineral and salty undertone. White pepper and salt at the finish. - James Suckling

A knockout white wine full of character and grip. It's the second time it's had a majority of Sauvignon Blanc (along with the 2016), because they really benefitted from the freshness that it provided. Harvested 27 August to 5 September. 3.27pH. - Jane Anson, Decanter
